Ignatius "Iggy" Barletta's Obituary
Ignatius "Iggy" Barletta, 94, of Liverpool, passed away on Thursday at Birchwood Health Care Center. He was born in Syracuse and received a Purple Heart in the US Army during WWII. Iggy retired from Syracuse University as an electrician in 1981. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Pompei where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. Iggy was active for many years with the Pompeian Players. He had a lifelong interest of gymnastics and was a member of the "Syracuse Turners" as a youth. He was predeceased by his wife, Fannie Minozzi Barletta in 2005. Iggy is survived by his son, Richard (Mary Ann) Barletta of Baldwinsville; a daughter, Diane (Glenn) Davis of Liverpool; 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons, 2 brothers, Dominick Barletta and James Barletta, both of Syracuse; 2 sisters, Susan Cerio of N. Syracuse and Grace Bavaria of Syracuse. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 8:00 AM in the Family Funeral Chapel and 9:00 AM in Our Lady of Pompei Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 PM in the Family Funeral Chapel. The Holy Name Society will recite their ritual on Sunday at 3:30 PM in the Family Funeral Chapel.
