Ilijah N. Barron-Nieves' Obituary
Ilijah Nashon Barron-Nieves was born on June 8, 2000 in Paterson, NJ, and moved to
Liverpool, NY in July of 2013. God called him home on March 6, 2020 at Upstate Golisano
Children’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a two-year battle with Osteosarcoma.
Ilijah was a graduate of Liverpool High School and was working on his degree at Onondaga
Community College. He had a special love for football and was a member and captain of the
Liverpool Warriors football team. He was also a lifelong fan of the New York Giants. He loved
basketball and spending time with his friends. Ilijah especially cherished his time with his family.
He loved to play his PlayStation with his family and friends, and his favorite television show was
Friends. Ilijah was predeceased by his grandmother, great-grandmother, as well as a host of aunts,
uncles, and cousins.
Ilijah leaves to cherish wonderful memories his loving mother, Nelisha Barron; his father, Angelo Nieves; stepmother, Mimi Barron; brother, Izeyah N. Barron-Nieves; sister, Tatyanna M. Barron-Rivera; stepbrother, Aydin A. Rodriguez; stepsister, Avalynn Nieves; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Road) North Syracuse, NY. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m., immediately followed by a reception at Moyers Corners Fire Department Station 2 on Morgan Road.
A funeral service will also be held in Ilijah’s hometown of Paterson, NJ on Saturday, March 14th at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Chapel Baptist Church located at 22-26 Haledon Ave. Paterson, NJ 07522.
The Barron family would like to take say a special thank you to all the nurses and doctors on 11G at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, and the Upstate Cancer Center for the outstanding love and support. They would also like to take the time to thank the CNY Make-A-Wish Foundation for helping grant Ilijah’s wish to celebrate his 19th birthday in the Bahamas with his family.
