Ingeborg E. (Plonske) Cerio 's Obituary
Ingeborg E. (Plonske) Cerio, 89 of Liverpool, NY, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019, after a short hospitalization at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She and her twin were born in Syracuse on January 3, 1930. Inge was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a graduate of North High School, Class of 1948, and worked for many years in the banking industry at Onondaga Savings Bank which later became On Bank. In her retirement she worked part-time as a salesperson at Bonwit Teller. Inge served as a Eucharist Minister at Our Lady of Pompei Church and was an active volunteer in the Mother’s Club at Our Lady of Pompei School. She loved to read and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Inge was predeceased by her husband, Michael A. Cerio with whom she enjoyed 64 years of marriage, and her parents, Max and Marie (Schlemm) Plonske.
Surviving are her children, a son, Thomas E. Cerio of Syracuse, NY; and a daughter, Rev. Dr. Cynthia Mapstone (Mark) of Cazenovia, NY; three granddaughters, Lauren, Morgan and Taylor Mapstone; two sisters; her twin, Edith Cerio of Syracuse and Amanda Green of Toccoa, GA; several nieces and nephews, and one sister-in-law.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 9:45-10:45 am at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter’s Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in celebration of Inge’s life. Burial will immediately follow at Assumption Cemetery.
