Irene J. Schebell's Obituary
Irene Schebell, 94, of Clay, NY, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 17, 2020 with family by her side. Irene was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, James J. Schebell, and her siblings, Alice (Peter) Monaco, Robert Michaud, and Ilene Michaud. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (David) Pilch; her son, James (Susan) Schebell; grandchildren, Sarah Beth (Parker) Drumm, John David Pilch, Quinn Schebell, and Avery Schebell; nieces, nephews, and favorite cousins.
Irene was born September 15, 1926, in Waddington, NY, daughter of George Michaud and Hazel Austin. She was raised by her grandmother, Lydia Austin, and always spoke of the love she had for her grandmother, siblings, and cousins.
Irene graduated from Potsdam High School and went on to attend Watertown School of Commerce before moving to Buffalo, where she met Jim and worked at Allied Chemical and Wurlitzer Company. Irene had the gift of hospitality, opening her home to foster children through Catholic Charities. She retired from the Salvation Army in Syracuse.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and winters in Dunedin, Florida, with her husband. Irene will always be remembered for her delicious cooking, generosity, beautiful smile, cute and petite appearance, loving ways, and being the best mama.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Syracuse Adult and Teen Challenge, 124 Furman St, Syracuse, N.Y. 13205.
