Isabella "Betty" (Forbes) Carr Ukrainec's Obituary
Isabella “Betty” (Forbes) Carr Ukrainec, 87, of Cicero, passed away at The Cottages at Garden Grove on March 8, 2019. She was born in Mexico, NY on September 10, 1931 to the late Alexander and Isabella (Tait) Forbes. Betty was a stay at home mom extraordinaire, always being there for her family, from being a Cub Scout Den Mother to Camp Fire Girl Leader, and even helping to raise her grandchildren. She loved to golf, sew clothes, garden, and play cribbage with her friends. Betty was also active in the Andrews Memorial Methodist Church and aided those less fortunate, volunteering for the North Area Meals on Wheels for many years.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her first husband, Oliver J. Carr in 1990; second husband, John W. Ukrainec in 2015; grandson, Thomas F. Carr; seven brothers and sisters.
Betty is survived by her children, James M. (Susan) Carr, Barbara A. (Thomas) Forleo and Jeanette M. (Craig) Elwood; step-son, William (Debbie) Ukrainec; grandchildren, Christopher, Heather, Alyssa, Rhiannon, James, Meredith, Morgan and Sian; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will take place on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 4 - 6:30 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Betty’s life at 6:30 pm, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.), North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty’s name may be made to North Area Meals on Wheels, 413 Church St., North Syracuse, NY 13212.
