James D. Fanto, Jr.'s Obituary
James D. Fanto, Jr., 72, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2021 at Upstate University Hospital. He was born on September 26, 1948 to the late James and Theresa (Carni) Fanto and grew up in Westvale. A graduate of Westhill High School, James spent many years working in the beverage industry, retiring from Eber Bros. Wine and Liquor. “JJ” loved to cook, fish, listen to music, watch Syracuse University sports, and spend time with his cousins, affectionately known as “The Guys”. In retirement, JJ enjoyed spending time with family, fishing on his boat, and trips to casinos. “Big Daddy” especially cherished his trips to North Carolina and Florida to visit family and friends. JJ had a terrific sense of humor and could make anyone smile or laugh.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Larry.
James is survived by his children, James (Kelly) Fanto and Rachele (Edwin) Martinez; three grandchildren, Raquel, Aracelli, and Vanessa; one great-grandson, Julian; two siblings, Mark (Elaine) Fanto and Bonnie Detor; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private funeral service will be held for immediate family. He will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery.
