James E. "Jim" Ferris' Obituary
James E. “Jim” Ferris, 85, of Liverpool, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017. He was born in Auburn, NY, son of the late Frank and Annabelle Ferris. Jim attended West High in Auburn. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1955, and was Honorably Discharged as Corporal. Jim was commissioned into the NY Guard as a Captain, retiring as a Brigadier General. He was the local, state, and national president of the Korean War Veterans of America and the American Legion Post 01 in Dublin, Ireland. Jim was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and VFW of Auburn, NY. He retired from AT&T in 1988. Jim was a lector and Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Liverpool.
Jim loved surrounding himself with family and friends. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and golfing.
He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Felice (Piedimonte) Ferris in 2016; his brother, Francis “Fritz” Ferris, and his sister, Rita Keim.
Jim is survived by three daughters, Susan (Carl) Weaver, Karen (Steve) Seguin, and Sharon (Jim) Bellso; six grandchildren, Nick Dunham, Adam, Matt and Jake Seguin, Joey and Gia Bellso, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Entombment will be in Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum, Baldwinsville. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
