James N. "Jim" Antonacci, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at Francis House on Monday, September 26, 2022 at the age of 89. A Syracuse native, Jim attended Christian Brothers Academy and served in the United States Air Force Reserves before going to work as a Mason for many local contractors and retiring from the Syracuse City School District after 23 years in 2000. Jim was a devoted family man and provider alongside his loving wife, Dolores who passed in July 2017. He loved the game of golf and was a member of the Pompei Holy Name golf league for over 60 years. Jim was also a member of the Bricklayers Union for 70 plus years. Jim enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and close friends and there wasn’t a chocolate or cookie he didn’t like or would say no to.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dolores (Toscano) Antonacci; parents, John P. and Mary (Valente) Antonacci; and brother, John V. Antonacci.
Jim is survived by his two sons, John (JoAnne) Antonacci and James N. (Cathy Pietrafesa) Antonacci, Jr.; six grandchildren, Michael (Brittany) Antonacci, Jolynn Antonacci, Joseph Antonacci, Jenna (Tony) Morris, James J. (Morgan) Antonacci, and Alyse (Scott) Knight; two great-grandchildren, Tommy and Rachel; sisters-in-law, Roslyn Antonacci and Rega Toscano, along with many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Joseph Augustine and his staff at CNY Family Care for the wonderful care and devotion they provided to our father.
