James "Jim" Michael Raite's Obituary
James “Jim” Michael Raite, 79, of Syracuse, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025. He was born in Syracuse to the late Salvatore and Florence (Nappa) Raite.
Jim was a hard worker. He served his country as a sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He spent his life working in construction. He built many homes and apartment complexes. He served as a past president of the association of Home Builders and Remodelers of Central New York. He then established several construction companies, most notably Time Cap Companies, which built many of the stores and theaters in Carousel Mall, now Destiny USA, and in malls and shopping centers throughout the northeast. Time Cap also was involved in several restoration projects, including the Park Avenue Five Sisters Victorian Homes. Jim was also a licensed pilot. He enjoyed flying his own plane to work out-of-town jobs. Jim loved his many dogs, who were a source of constant joy and support. Jim loved his friends and all the good times they shared. Most of all, Jim loved his family. He took care of his aging parents and his siblings. He encouraged and supported his nephew and niece. He cherished his wife. He will be remembered for his many works of charity and for kindness and generosity to so many.
Jim is survived by his wife Christine Lydon – Raite, his brother Dennis (Colleen) Raite, his sister Sandra (Theodore) Seibt, his nephew Reverend Christopher Seibt, his nieces Jacqueline (Kevin) Weinheimer, Danielle Raite, and Emily Raite, his great nephews Joseph and Matthew Weinheimer, his great niece Laysia Raite, and many friends.
Family and friends are welcome to call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A service will be offered at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212 on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM. A private entombment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
