James B. "Jim" Sampere's Obituary
James B. “Jim” Sampere, 85, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 9, 2023. Jim was born in Syracuse to the late Samuel and Flora (Mallore) Sampere. He was a 1956 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy. He went on to serve as a proud U.S. Marine and was a member of Honor Flight Mission 15. He owned Buttercup Bakery in Syracuse, before going to work at General Motors/Fisher Guide where he retired from in 2002. Jim had a passion for horse racing. He loved going to the track to watch his winning horse, Deafening Command. He always looked forward to his yearly trips with his best friend, Bob Bartolo, they went to casinos and visited the racetrack in Saratoga. Jim loved spending time with family and friends, especially his cherished grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Roseanne (Michael) Heigle.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary (Namishia) Sampere; his children, Samuel (Tracy Cromp) Sampere, Susan (Rick) Conzone, Sandra Vigliotti (Jeff Morgan) and Stephanie Sampere; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Tiffany, Matthew, Timothy, Dillan, Sophia, and Alexander; his niece Michele Kimball; and several cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Jim’s life at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
