James J. Schebell's Obituary
James J. Schebell, 93, of Clay, NY, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 13, 2020, with family by his side. Jim was the beloved husband of 67 years to Irene (Michaud) Schebell; loving father of Nancy (David) Pilch and James (Susan) Schebell; proud grandfather of Sarah Beth (Parker) Drumm, John David Pilch, Quinn Schebell, and Avery Schebell; a favorite cousin, and a dear uncle.
Jim was born September 7, 1927, in North Tonawanda, NY, son of the late Florence Borassi and Anthony Schebell. He was predeceased by his siblings, Carrie Schebell, Rose (Anthony) Scarpinato, Salvador (Yolanda) Schebell, Bella (Frank) DiRaffael, Frank (Marion) Schebell, Joseph (Kathleen) Schebell, and Mary (Ralph) Marotta.
Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the U.S.S. Midway. Upon his honorable discharge, he was employed by Continental Can, Crouse Hinds, and Marine Midland Bank as an accountant. He was proud to be an Italian American and was a passionate fan of the Buffalo Bills and Syracuse Orange. He enjoyed spending winters and time with family in Dunedin, Florida, for over 20 years. Above all else, he loved his family, who brought him the most joy. He always will be remembered for his humor, kindness, faithfulness, and generosity. Jim was the best husband, father, gramps, and friend.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Syracuse Adult and Teen Challenge, 124 Furman St, Syracuse, NY 13205.
