James A. Stoddard's Obituary
James A. Stoddard, 83, of Cicero, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. He was born in Fulton, NY to Gerald and Esther (Guernsey) Stoddard and attended SUNY Canton where he received his degree in business. James worked for over 35 years with Haylor, Freyer and Coon, Inc., and retired in 2003 as Chairman. He was a proud supporter of North Area Meals on Wheels, a board member for Ducks Unlimited Syracuse Chapter, Rapshaw Club and Foundation board member at OCC, a member of Pirates Cove Marina, and Lakeshore Yacht and Country Club. Jim’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, boating, golfing, and photography, but what he loved the most were the family camping trips to the Rapshaw Club on Stillwater Reservoir.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary K. (Apgar) Stoddard.
James is survived by his children, James A. (Jennifer) Stoddard, Jr., Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Meyers, John (Sandra) Stoddard, Sarah (Chris) Courtright, and Steven (Kristy) Stoddard; stepchildren, Dr. Steven (Jeanine) Kassman, and Laurie (Daniel) Pliss; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Judy (Gary) Barron; brother, Marty (Betsy) Stoddard; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral Mass in celebration of James’ life will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in Sacred Heart Church of Cicero, 8229 Brewerton Road, with burial to follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Family and friends may call on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
