I was so blessed to have become friends with Jane in 6th grade!! So many memories and fun times, but she was the one blessed with a close to photographic memory where she could tell you what you were wearing on such and such a day 30+ years ago. I do have a few to share.
In high school, we seemed to always be wondering how we were going to get somewhere ("How we going to get there, Jane?"). We would always just laugh and start walking and somehow we always managed to get a ride whether it be parents or friends driving by.
I also remember a time when we were going to a toga party with our white sheets draped around us. I was driving the brown pinto and all the sudden we were overcome with a horrible smell causing us to pull over and get out of the car gagging uncontrollably. One of us had stepped in dog waste.
Laughing together was our greatest claim to fame!! We always found some reason to laugh!!!
Jane instilled in me my love of cats (I remember her black with white cat Frisky) and making up lots of cute names for them besides their main name. I still do it to this day and smile thinking "hmmm...Jane, would like that one".
We also worked together at an answering service starting at age 15 and had some very interesting experiences along the way (I'm sure you all have heard). We sat in front of switch boards with little 1 inch x 1 inch squares (or at least it felt like it) with a light under each (with ringing sounds) and we had to keep track of the number of times it rang and answer it according to the client's direction. We had cords and plugs going every which way and sometimes we would even get elbowed by someone sitting next to us if they noticed we didn't answer one of the lines in time. We ended up rocking it though!!! We definitely were great employees!!! (There's that strength).
So many wonderful and cherished memories that I pray I can keep recollecting because they bring me back to one of the best times of my life! Jane was truly special in every way and I will always carry her love safely in my heart. I wish I could go back in time and make sure that we spent more time together in our adult years. The Navy life brought us many places and as it does, years fly by. The love was ALWAYS there. Thank you, Jane for your love and I hope you always felt mine for you. I love you ALWAYS!!!
I'm sending lots of love and prayers to Charles, Jack, Alex, Emma and Calvin. Her love for you all is immeasurable that time cannot change. I do believe she will always be looking over you all with so much pride and love. Keep all your warm memories close to your heart and I pray that they will bring you smiles and comfort!! xoxo
