Jane I. Pullano's Obituary
Jane I. Pullano, of Syracuse, NY, passed away on December 18, 2023. She was 90 years old and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to all.
The daughter of Italian immigrants, Jane grew up on Syracuse’s North Side, where she met Joe, her high school sweetheart and future husband of 40 years. She was a graduate of North High School and Saint Joseph’s School of Nursing. As a registered nurse, Jane began her career at University Hospital as an operating room surgical nurse. She was the head nurse for the New York State employees at the State Office building in downtown Syracuse where she provided care to patients for many years. She later continued her career with Kemper Insurance and The State Insurance Fund assisting the disabled and injured with their financial and medical needs.
Jane was a devout Catholic and resided in Syracuse most of her life where she worked and raised a family of four, before retiring to Cazenovia. There she volunteered as an EMS dispatcher for NAVAC, was a member of the Cazenovia Gardening Club, worked at the Brae Loch Inn, along with acquiring her real estate license. She spent the final years of her life living in Syracuse and Westford, Massachusetts surrounded by her loving family. ‘Aunt Jane’ was known by everyone in her extended family as a great Italian cook bringing family together for Sunday dinners and holidays. She touched so many hearts by welcoming them all into her home.
Jane was predeceased by her parents, Luciano and Lucia (Malatesta) Iannitti; sisters, Frances Angarano and Antoinette Monahan; brother, Carmen Pasquariello; husband, Joseph D. Pullano, and grandchildren, Robert, Anna, and Michael Pullano.
She is survived by her four children, Robert (Linda) Pullano of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Dr. William (Karen) Pullano of Syracuse, New York, Giannina (John) Underhill of Westford, Massachusetts, and Joseph (Jennie) Pullano of Matawan, New Jersey. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 4:00pm – 7:00 pm at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd., North Syracuse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Jane at 10:00 am on Friday, December 29, 2023 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 409 S. Main St., North Syracuse, followed by the Rite of Committal and burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, 800 Grant Blvd., Syracuse.
