Janet M. (Spenard) Stone's Obituary
Janet M. (Spenard) Stone, of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on June 18, 2020. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Janet had touched in many ways throughout her very memorable life.
Janet was born in Syracuse, NY on January 25, 1935, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Spenard and her loving stepmother, Gladys “Mimi” Spenard, whom she was raised by.
Janet graduated from Eastwood High School. In her early professional years, she worked for the Syracuse Telephone Company. Janet belonged and volunteered for many organizations.; she shared her love with the Sedgwick Rosary Society, Republican Women’s Auxiliary, Board of Elections, and the Red Hat Society. Janet loved entertaining family and friends, enjoyed Broadway musicals and was an active member of Syracuse Stage. She was known for her quick wit, her infectious smile, loved socializing with friends and family and had a kind and compassionate spirit. Janet was a vibrant woman with profound strength, character and wisdom.
Janet is predeceased by her loving son, Todd R. Stone; her grandson, Corey R. Stone; brothers, Joseph “Bud” Spenard, and Robert Spenard; her sister, Shirley Spenard Ryan, and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
Janet is survived by her devoted family, her husband of 65 years, Robert J. Stone; her daughter, Valerie J. Stone of Auburn, NY; her son, Dean R. (Kathy E.) Stone of Syracuse; many nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the health aides who cared for Janet over a long period of time.
Please join us in celebrating Janet’s life with a visitation on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 8:30 – 9:30 am at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt, NY.
