Janice Joyce (Masterpol) Oakes' Obituary
Janice Joyce (Masterpol) Oakes, age 71, passed away on July 22, 2019. She was born on January 13, 1948 in Syracuse, NY, daughter of the late John and Grace (Coates) Masterpol. Janice lived in Cocoa Beach, FL and Liverpool, NY.
She will be missed by many, but especially by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Peter Oakes.
Janice went to Liverpool High School and attended college. She was a hairstylist for many years, and a social worker at Huntington Family Center.
Janice was an eclectic, vivacious person, whose laughter was infectious! There was never a single day that Janice was not complimented by everyone for her impeccable sense of fashion and taste. She loved her pets and family. Her favorite cobalt blue glass could be seen throughout her home and garden. In addition to being an avid trivia player, Janice enjoyed playing bingo, casinos, cruises, and shopping. She listened to all types of music and enjoyed attending music festivals and concerts with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Peter Oakes; daughter, Gina (John Earl) Carroll; son, Greg (Tanya Raite) Cameron; three grandchildren, Amanda (Brian Baker) Sims, Anthony (Taylor Thacher) Trapasso, and Angelina Trapasso; five great-grandchildren with one on the way; cousin and best friend, Marion (Charlie) Byne, and many other cousins.
Janices' vitality, infectious laugh and love of life was contagious and palpable. She set an amazing example of stoicism and living 'til the end. Janice will stay alive in our hearts and be remembered as a person that life was not wasted on.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.), N. Syracuse, NY.
