Jean Irene (Congdon) Klym's Obituary
Jean Irene Klym (Congdon), of Mattydale, NY, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020. She was the first child of Irene (Dinet) Congdon and Orly F. Congdon. Jean was 92 years of age. She was a member of St. Margaret’s Church for 68 years and served as a Eucharistic Minister, Usher, and member of the Bereavement Committee. Jean retired at the age of 72 after a long employment as the Assistant Administrator with the Benjamin Rush Center, Syracuse, NY.
Jean had a variety of interests including pottery, embroidery and gardening. Her pottery had been exhibited in the Ceramic National at the Everson Museum, the Finger Lakes Show at the Strong Memorial Museum in Rochester, and the Munson Williams Proctor Museum in Utica. She was past president of the Syracuse Ceramic Guild, past president of the CNY Chapter of Needlepoint Guild and past vice-president and board member of the Men’s Gardening Club. Jean was also a frequent exhibitor at the NYS Fair and other regional art shows.
She is predeceased by her husband, Michael Klym and brothers, Thomas and Francis Congdon.
Jean is survived by her son, David M. Klym (Carolyn) of Liverpool, a daughter, Karen S. Klym (Gabrielle) of Cowes Victoria Australia; grandchildren, Christine L. Barnes of Boyds, MD, Wade A. McDavid (Tracey) of Elkridge, MD, and Donald A. Zogg (Michelle) of Liverpool; four great- grandchildren, Hunter and Austin McDavid, Cameron Heiman and Madison M. Zogg.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 9:00 A.M. in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Margaret’s Church 203 Roxboro Rd, Mattydale, NY. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, February 17, 2020 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3041 Vickery Road, (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
