Jean C. (Castle) Schug's Obituary
Jean C. (Castle) Schug, 77, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2019 in the loving care of her husband and children. Daughter of Philip and Mildred Castle, she was born in Bronxville, NY on August 14, 1942. Shortly thereafter, they moved back to Syracuse to be close to family, settling in on the northside.
Jean was a 1960 graduate of North High School and Syracuse University, earning a master’s degree in education. She worked for Marine Midland Bank and Onbank, retiring in 2009 from the Syracuse City School District, where she worked for 24 years in various capacities including secretary, grant writing, teacher, and transportation analyst.
A caring, compassionate, gregarious woman, she was happiest doing kind deeds for her family, friends, and all the other special people she encountered in her life’s journey. She loved her husband and children unconditionally, especially her 5 favorite grandkids. Jean drew the blueprint for those she left to follow in her path of doing good for others with empathy and understanding.
She is survived by her husband, Lynn W. Schug; sons, Steven P. (Mary) Schug and Michael C. (Christine) Schug; five grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, Kristin, Vincent, and Julia. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, and cousins to cherish her memory.
A funeral service in celebration of Jean’s life will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, and 10:00 am at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Syracuse. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, August 30, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
