Jeanne Michelle (Hayes) Hanley's Obituary
Jeanne Michelle (Hayes) Hanley, 66, of Syracuse, NY died on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, in her home after a journey with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by loving family when she made the peaceful transition to the nearer presence of God.
She was born in Syracuse on August 13, 1955, the third of five daughters of the late Regina (Fabisiak) and Frederick R. Hayes. Jeanne graduated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Academy in Syracuse in 1972 with her high school diploma. She married her devoted and loving husband, Daniel R. Hanley, on September 17, 1977.
She worked for over 40 years in the insurance industry, retiring as a Business Systems Analyst from Liberty Mutual in 2019. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend, always putting others first. She was the main caretaker for her mother, Regina, in her final years. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels of Syracuse and loved donating to the Wounded Warrior Project. She loved to cook and bake, especially for family holidays, but she also enjoyed dining out. She enjoyed her dry gin martinis up with olives, only the best champagne, and, in her last days, a proper cup of tea with lemon. Jeanne loved hosting a good party at her home in Onondaga Hill with her infectious laugh and generous spirit. She loved traveling with her husband, especially to Las Vegas, New Orleans, and the Florida Keys. She loved watching her TV shows, particularly the Andy Griffith Show, the French Chef, Lidia’s Kitchen, Bar Rescue, Murder She Wrote, Amanpour, Judge Judy, and 60 Minutes.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel; her children the Rev. Nicole Hanley and Joseph Hanley (Tracy); her grandson Daniel Rinaldi; her sisters Kathy Burns (Jim), Eileen Mandujano (John), Kellie Bugge (Carmen), and Beth Kay (Brian); and many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Special thanks to the nurses of Hospice of Central New York and Hospice of the Finger Lakes, especially, Patty, Octavia, and Brendan, for their loving care of Jeanne in her last days.
