Jeannette "Jean" (Dougher) Padden's Obituary
Jeannette “Jean” (Dougher) Padden, 96, passed away July 17, 2022 at Iroquois Nursing Home. She was born February 10, 1926 in Syracuse, NY to the late Michael A. and Kathleen (Nolan) Dougher. A life resident of Syracuse, she graduated from North High School and C.C.B.I. Jean was employed by Mutual of New York (MONY) and retired from Cigna Insurance Company. After retirement, she worked 22 years with the Onondaga County Office for Aging and Youth. A life member of St. John the Baptist Church, she was a member of the Alter Rosary, Mother's Club, Parish Council, and a member of the Diocesan Pastoral Council. Jean was Chairperson for St. John's HOPE Appeal and Diocesan Western Region Chairperson for the HOPE Appeal. She was also a Eucharist Minister for many years. Most of all, Jean loved spending time with family and friends, vacations at Fourth Lake and Cape Cod, along with sewing and cooking.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael J. Padden, Sr. in 1959; her brother, Martin P. Dougher in 1977; her sister, K. Rita Curtin in 1995, and niece, Beth Curtin in 1974.
Jean is survived by her children; Michael J. Padden, Jr. of Liverpool, NY; Paul D. (Janice)
Padden of Liverpool, NY; Maureen A. Padden of Mechanicville, NY; Martin J. (Barbara)
Hanscomb of Jordan, NY; and adopted daughter, Donna Hervieux of Mechanicville, NY; four granddaughters; Kelsey, Lindsey, Katey, and Leah; one great-grandson, Killian; four nieces and five nephews, several great nieces and nephews and several cousins.
Calling hours will be held from 11 am - 12 pm on Thursday, July 21, 2022 followed by a prayer service at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY, with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt immediately following the service.
