Jennie (Rocco) Bregande's Obituary
Jennie R. Bregande, of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 102. Jennie is the wife of the late Dr. Samuel C. Bregande. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and was the definition of a selfless person, dedicating her life to her children and grandchildren. Her warm-hearted spirit, comforting presence and loving ways will always be remembered. Her greatest love in life was her family, friends, and gatherings at her home, especially around the holidays. One of five sisters, Josephine, Margaret, Susan and Edith, Jennie’s home stood as the gathering point and foundation for her growing family over the years. We have been blessed to have her as long as we did and are forever grateful for the lasting impact she has had on all of us.
Jennie enjoyed evenings out dancing with her husband, playing bridge and pitch, and most of all, cooking homemade Italian food for her family. She enjoyed traveling to many places in her younger years. She was a lifetime member of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. Her smile, her laugh and her touch will be missed immensely. She was welcoming, warm, full-hearted, and always true to what was most important in her life -- family. May she Rest in Peace in God’s love and may her spirit remain close to all of us.
Jennie is survived by her two children, Janet B. (Richard) Romer of Niskayuna, NY, and Samuel C. Bregande of Fayetteville, NY; her sister, Josephine Haddock of Syracuse, NY. Jennie was the grandmother of six grandchildren, Christine (Bruce) Piriano, Janelle (Dan) Johnson, Danielle (Kris) West, Benjamin Romer, Sarah Romer, and Max Bregande; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home in Clifton Park, NY, for the care that they provided Jennie over the past three years. They were especially helpful during the last few days of her life, making sure she was comfortable and at peace.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M on Monday, October 3rd at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Family and friends may call on Monday prior to the service from 12:00 - 2:00 P.M. Entombment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum following the service.
Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Jennie’s honor.
