Jennie (Vadala) Mercurio's Obituary
Jennie (Vadala) Mercurio, 103, of Liverpool passed away at Elderwood Nursing Home after a self-less and loving life devoted to her family and all that knew her well. She was born in NYC, the 2nd daughter to the late Catherine and Francesco Vadala and came to Syracuse at an early age. Jennie was active in the Saint Theresa Society of Our Lady of Pompei/ St. Peter Church, enjoyed sports, especially golf, reading, and excelled in many creative interests. Her longevity is attributed to her faith in God, her unconditional love for family and friends, and her acceptance of change and adversity as a part of life.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Lucien Mercurio, one sister, and four brothers.
Jennie is survived by her sons, Dominic (Marlene) Mercurio and Lucien (Julia) Mercurio; daughters, Erna Wiltsey and Kathy Masucci; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Angeline Roffo; along with many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 10 am – 11:45 am at Our Lady of Pompei/ St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St. Syracuse, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Jennie’s life at 12 pm at Our Lady of Pompei/ St. Peter Church. Burial will take place in Assumption Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME.
