Jessica I. Summers, MD F.A.C.S.'s Obituary
Jessica I. Summers, MD F.A.C.S., 41, of Cicero, passed away unexpectedly at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Davenport, Iowa, Jessica was a graduate of UC – Davis and the Drexel University College of Medicine. She was employed at Upstate University Hospital in the Clark Burn Center as an Assistant Professor of Surgery, Burn Medical Director, and a General Surgeon in the Trauma/Critical Care unit. Jessica was extremely passionate about her medical missionary work in Honduras with the Honduran Children’s Rescue Fund in conjunction with the Sociedad Amigos de los Niños.
Her missionary work spanned 10 years.
Jessica was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, she loved sports, traveling, concerts, and time with her family and friends.
Jessica was predeceased by her father, Ronald Summers, in January 2020.
Jessica is survived by her mother, Joyce Summers of Anderson, CA; her sister, Amanda (Benjamin) Bowers of Anderson, CA; niece and nephew, Addison and Tyler Bowers; stepbrother, Stephen Summers; stepsister, Kathleen Summers; and her partner of 2 years, Craig Strong.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Jessica’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. in Sacred Heart Church, 8229 Brewerton Rd. Cicero.
