Joan E. (Dotterer) Bruzdzinski's Obituary
Joan E. (Dotterer) Bruzdzinski, 89, of Liverpool, passed away at home on May 7, 2020. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Robert E. and Olive (Gilbert) Dotterer. Joan graduated from Assumption Catholic Academy and worked at General Electric for many years.
Joan was proud of the fact that her family was one of the Five Founding Families of the Assumption Church in the 1800’s and was a faithful parishioner and a twenty-year volunteer at the Assumption Food Pantry. She and her friends were avid bowlers and only quit this past fall when the lanes closed. She loved every minute dancing with The Our Town Tappers and playing cards with her friends. She and her companions traveled all over the world; she walked on the Great Wall of China, kissed the Blarney Stone and loved St. Peters at the Vatican. For 45 years, camping at Treman State Park was a must in the summer where she spent countless hours with her children, grandchildren, and friends. Joan had the ability to always find some good in everyone.
The family would like to thank Tom, Jr. and Dave A. of Pirro’s for their kindness, compassion and patience.
She is predeceased by her husband, William F. Bruzdzinski in 2000; her grandson, Kevin T. Falge, and brother, Robert Dotterer.
Joan is survived by her children, John J. Falge (Maureen); Diane Houghmaster (Gary Wicks), Donna Lange (Keith) and Doreen Spicer (Tom); 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Gvardijan and Kathleen Gipe; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services entrusted to THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. She will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery, Cousin Deacon Bill Dotterer presiding. A Memorial Mass will be held in the future.
Contributions may be made to Assumption Food Pantry, 808 N. Salina St., Syracuse, NY 13208.
