Joan L. Calaprico's Obituary
Joan L. Calaprico, 81, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2016 at Iroquois Nursing Home. She was born in Syracuse to the late James and Anna (Pirro) Farrar. Joan retired with pride from AT&T Corporation after thirty plus years of service as a telephone operator. She enjoyed traveling, socializing and spending time with family and friends. Some of her most enjoyable moments were preparing meals for gatherings with her children, grandchildren and friends. Her devilish sense of humor, infectious laugh, and compassionate nature, left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband James “Bimmy” Calaprico in November 1972; along with her siblings, Angeline, Fred and Jean Farrar.
Joan is survived by her three loving sons and daughter in laws, James, Joseph (Mary) and Michael (Autumn) Calaprico; her six cherished grandchildren, Zachary, Nicholas, Marissa, Gina, Joshua and Joseph; along with her nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joan’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Iroquois Nursing Home.
Funeral services in celebration of Joan’s life will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the funeral home 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley) Syracuse, NY 13212.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Iroquois Nursing Home 4600 Southwood Heights Drive, Jamesville, NY or a charity of your choice.
