Joan M. (McNeil) Piston's Obituary
Joan M. Piston, 88, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at Upstate University Hospital. She was born in Schenectady, NY to Helen E. (McGreehan) and James K. McNeil. Joan graduated from Liverpool High School and was employed by the New York Telephone Company. She married Gene Piston in 1958 and had two sons. Joan was very artistic and could paint, draw, and create ceramics, pictures, and glassware. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and doing things for others - especially the children and grandchildren.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Gene, her sister Maureen, and her brothers James, Donald, and Paul.
Joan is survived by her sons Mark (Lisa) and Edward (Stephanie); her brother John (Marge); five grandchildren: Eric, Jennifer, Zachary (Cheyenne), Kaitlin, and adopted grandson Tyler; four great-grandchildren: Cameron, Corey, Kaylee, and Salem; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service in celebration of Joan’s life will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, 11:00 A.M., at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum, Baldwinsville.
