Joan M. Thompson's Obituary
Joan Thompson, 90, of Marcellus passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.
Joan was the daughter of John and Henrietta (Edinger) Edwards, was born and raised in Syracuse, NY and graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy.
Fiercely independent with a wonderful sense of humor, she was a caring and loving mother and wife. Spending time with her family was what she enjoyed most, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Her passions were playing cards (especially bridge), bingo and an occasional trip to the casinos. She had also been an avid golfer and angler; flashing a big grin when able to surpass one of the family’s catches.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Stanley Thompson, Sr. in 2005, having been married for 54 years, her brother John Edwards and sister Joyce Edwards (Pope). Surviving are her 5 children: Stanley (Barbara) Thompson, Sharon (Jerry) Dineen, Gary (Margaret) Thompson, Sheila (Tom) Quinn, Brian (Joi-lyn) Thompson, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Joan made a lot of friends throughout the years and cherished each and every one dearly. The family will have a private church service.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
