Joanne Giannantonio's Obituary
Joanne Giannantonio passed away peacefully from a short but courageous battle with ALS on October 11, 2018 in Syracuse, NY at the age of 69.
Joanne was born on September 2, 1949 in Syracuse, NY, daughter of the late Nicholas and Carmella Giannantonio. She graduated and received her Cosmetology License from Central Tech High School. Joanne worked at James Hairstylists for more than 35 years. Joanne’s greatest way to express her love for others was through her cooking and baking for friends, family or anyone in need. She was affectionately known as “JoJo” (nick-named by her beloved nephew Jesse Otts) and became everyone’s “Aunt Joanne” upon being introduced
She is predeceased by her brother, Frank Giannantonio and brother-in-law, Richard Sisto. Joanne is survived by her loving sisters, Frieda Sisto and Victoria Appel (Bill), both of Syracuse. She will be greatly missed by her many nephews and nieces: Debbie, Frank, Robert, Richard, John, Nick, Carmie and Nick, as well as, several great-nephews & great-nieces who always thought of her as a second mother.
Joanne will always be held close in the hearts of her aunts and uncles, Theresa DeMauro, Sue & Frank DiLorio, Anna Giannantonio, cousins and many friends.
Calling hours will be held from 8:30 am – 10:15 am on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter’s Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Joanne’s life at 10:30 am. Entombment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
