John Robert Coon's Obituary
John R. Coon, 74, of Cicero, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Upstate University Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Bert and Betty (Lynn) Coon and grew up in Pulaski. John was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and in the winter months, was employed as a wingman for the Town of Cicero, a job he loved. John loved spending summers at the lake and had many good friends that were like family to him. He loved the outdoors and taking care of the lawns, both at camp and home. He could always make people laugh with his quick wit and funny comebacks and will be greatly missed. Above all, John cherished his daughters and grandchildren, and he was happiest when being able to spend time with them.
He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, his daughter, Shannon Coon, and a brother David.
John is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda (Magar) Coon; daughters, Jenna (Josh) Stone and Colleen (Nicholas) Stuper; grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan, and John Stuper; Brooke, Harper, and Paul Stone; his sister, Linda (Dean) Burdick; a daughter from a previous marriage, Lynn Blasier and family; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many great friends, along with his beloved grand dog, Raya.
Funeral services will be held in the spring of 2021. Funeral arrangements entrusted to THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME.
