John A. Cupelo's Obituary
John A. Cupelo, 83, of Syracuse passed away on Saturday at Crouse Hospital surrounded by his loving family. John served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. He was a manager with Loblaw's and retired as a sales supervisor from Schisa Brothers. John was an avid golfer, he loved gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and playing cards with his friends. He was past president of the Syracuse Bocce Ball Group, a member of the Solvay-Geddes Veterans and former member of the Knights of Columbus and IAAC. The family would like to thank the 4th floor nursing staff at Crouse Hospital for their loving care. He was predeceased by 3 brothers; Michael, Angelo & Carmen Cupelo and a sister, Mary LaRose. John is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Josephine Spensieri; 2 daughters, Susan (Joseph) Bombard and Patricia (Steven) Brandt, both of Manlius; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer (Benjamin) McGovern, Christopher & Joanna Bombard, Matthew, Natalie and Hannah Brandt; 3 brothers, William Cupelo of RI, Robert R. (Mary) Cupelo of Lyncourt and Patrick E. (Carol) Cupelo of Liverpool; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:00 AM Thursday in the Family Funeral Chapel and 10:00 AM in St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the FAMILY FUNERAL CHAPEL. Contributions may be made to Christ the King Retreat House, 500 Brookford Rd., Syracuse, NY 13224.
