Dr. John "Buddy" A. D'Addario's Obituary
Dr. John “Buddy” A. D’Addario, 75, of Syracuse, NY passed away on December 21, 2024, at home. John was born on November 25th, 1949, in Syracuse to Anthony “Sonny” and Mary D’Addario.
After graduating from Christian Brothers Academy, he did his undergraduate studies at Cornell University, then medical school at Albert Einstein Medical College.
He married his loving wife, Phyllis, in 1979. During their 45 years of marriage, they had two children: Aaron and Jeff.
John worked with the Anesthesia Group P.C. at St. Joseph's Hospital from 1981 until retiring in 2004.
John was one of a kind; a “buddy” to everyone. He was a brilliant, honorable man of great integrity who was willing to help anyone in need. He loved to tell stories and wasn’t afraid to express his passionate opinions on any subject to anyone. In fact, he relished doing so. He was a lover of sports; a love he passed onto his sons who were collegiate student-athletes. A longtime season’s ticket holder of Syracuse football and basketball, he cherished the memory of attending the National Championship winning game for the basketball team in New Orleans in 2003 with one of his sons. His love of music and concerts is a passion he cultivated with his family. He enjoyed seeing B.B. King including at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. He loved harness racing, fast cars, and Cocker Spaniel’s.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, his brother-in-law and best friend Larry Sarkin, and his dog Rufus.
In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the family of John’s Cocker Spaniel breeder, who have suffered great loss recently, so that they can continue to provide the love and joy to others with their Cocker Spaniel puppies that John had received from Rufus.
