John A. DelVecchio's Obituary
John A. DelVecchio (Del), 68, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home. John was born and raised in Lyncourt, NY to the late Michael Sr. and Lucy DelVecchio. John graduated from Solvay High School and started his career as an HVAC technician at Carrier Corp. In 2014, John retired from ABC Refrigeration and Air Conditioning after 30 years. John enjoyed spending time with his dogs, playing cards & playing / watching sports, but his true love was spending time with family and friends. He was always the first one to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. John was known for his sense of humor and infectious laugh, always having a funny story to share. John was a sports enthusiast and an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
He was a triathlete in high school.
Besides his parents, John is predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Nancy DelVecchio, as well as his brother, Michael DelVecchio, Jr.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Jessica Barnes of Syracuse, NY, sisters in law, brother-in-law and several nephews, nieces and cousins. In addition to his family, John touched the lives of many through his generosity & strength of character.
The family would like to thank John's close friends, Sam Squadrito and Kevin Willey for being so good to him throughout his life and final days. Though John may have left this world, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who love him. We honor John's memory and celebrate his life as a devoted husband, loving father, caring son, wise mentor and loyal friend.
A funeral Mass in celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 9:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY. John will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours will take place on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
