John A. Finocchio, Sr.'s Obituary
John A. Finocchio, Sr., 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Vincenzo and Antoinette (Lobello) Finocchio. John retired from Centro after more than 25 dedicated years as a Bus Driver. In the 1960’s he and his wife Jean, both hair stylists, owned and operated The House of Flair in North Syracuse. He was an avid skier and was a life member of the Downtown YMCA as well as the SYAC Club, and Moose Club. Above all, he loved spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jean (Wilkinson) Finocchio in 2015; 5 brothers: Christopher, Peter, Paul, Joseph, and Vincent John; 2 sisters: Dorothy Andaloro and Rosalie LaPenta.
John is survived by his son, John Finocchio, Jr.; his daughter, Nadine (Ted) Bohli; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his companion, Shirley Warner, along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 4 – 7 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A prayer service in celebration of John’s life will take place at 10 am on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the funeral home, with entombment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
