John Henry "Butch" Dippold's Obituary
John Henry “Butch” Dippold, 74, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital after complications from cancer, surrounded by his loving family. John was born on December 21, 1944 in Syracuse, NY, son of the late Clara and Henry Dippold. He was the youngest, with seven older sisters.
John retired from Mac Steel, where he was a supervisor for over 30 years. After a very short retirement, he started working part-time for Shop City Liquors. John was past president and member of the Lyncourt Fire Department.
Family was everything to John, he cared deeply and passionately for them. He never missed an event or game of his six grandchildren.
John was predeceased by his sisters, Barbara Honis and Shirley Carroll, and his son-in-law, Alex Cimino, Sr.
Surviving John is his loving wife of 53 years, Carol (Reale) Dippold; his daughter, Michelle Cimino; his son, John (Kelli) Dippold, Jr.; grandchildren, Nicole, AJ and Michael Cimino, John, Jacob and Jordan Dippold; sisters, Joan Tourot, Jean Fuller, Suzanne Wademan, Diane Chase and Dolores Guernsey; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s ICU and PCU staff and Dr. Yerkes for their wonderful care and compassion during John’s 49 day stay.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, April 1, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of John’s life at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2:00 – 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
