John D. "Jack" More's Obituary
John D. “Jack” More, 86, of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital with his family by his side on Saturday, January 25, 2020. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late John and Angeline More.
John owned and operated Sedgwick Liquor and later retired from Monarch Liquor as a salesman. He was a devout NY Yankees and SU basketball fan. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, talking with friends and neighbors, and sitting in the driveway “watching the grass grow.”
John was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Catherine (Panto) More in 2018, and two sisters, Theresa and Antoinette. He is survived by his children, John (Rosemarie) More and Lynda (Kurt) Keller; grandchildren, John and Emily More, Katherine and Carolyn Keller; his sister, Jean (Floyd) Pallone, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends, especially Alex Vecchio.
Jack’s family wishes to thank Bev, Meg, Laura, and the nurses on floor D-5 of St. Joseph’s Hospital for their compassionate care.
A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of John’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, with burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
