John Naum's Obituary
John Naum, 83, of Liverpool, passed away Sunday at Upstate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. John was an Air Force Veteran of World War II. A well known restaurateur and executive chef for over 55 years, he graduated from the U.S. Air Force Culinary School and had been employed by the Hotel Syracuse, The Castaways, Borio's and Dominick's Restaurant. John was a great SU sports fan and also an avid Yankees fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his parents, Krist and Anna (Domchefsi) Naum, three brothers and four sisters. John is survived by his loving wife, Florence (Karafile) Naum; his son, Christopher (Lori) Naum of Liverpool; his daughter, Anne (George) Miller of Mattydale; his granddaughters, Lauren, Ashley and Emily and his great-granddaughter, Jewelyana; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday in St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church, 325 Waring Rd., Syracuse, NY. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Thomas J. Pirro Jr. Funeral Home, 3401 Vickery Rd., North Syracuse (Corner of Buckley Rd.) on Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Golisano Children's Hospital in care of Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY.
