John J. Vaccaro's Obituary
John J. Vaccaro, 91, of Brewerton, passed away Thursday at The Cottages at Garden Grove in Cicero. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late James and Jennie (Petrella) Vaccaro. John was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a fire fighter with the Syracuse Fire Department retiring after 30 years of service. John was a communicant and usher at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church and a member of the IAAC Club. He was a great cook, avid golfer and Pinochle player. John was a fantastic husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lucy (Fortunato) Vaccaro in 1999; three brothers, Richard, Peter and Joseph Vaccaro.
John is survived by three children, Michael (Darla) Vaccaro of Kansas City, James Vaccaro of Brewerton and Jean Marie (James) Potts of Sandy Pond; four grandchildren, Nicole Cross, Jennifer Vaccaro, Jessica Vaccaro and James John Potts; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, August 24, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of John’s life at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 3:00 – 6:00 pm on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
