Jon T. Rich, Jr.'s Obituary
Jon T. Rich, Jr., 52, of Clay, NY, passed away unexpectedly after complications from a car accident on December 9, 2022. He was born on February 25, 1970 in Syracuse, NY to Jack and Karen Rich. Jon and his older sister, Lisa, had a wonderful childhood growing up in Hastings, NY. He graduated from Paul V. Moore High School and continued his education at Alfred State, obtaining his construction degree which he then used to run Jon T. Rich Construction in Central Square, NY. He was a member of the Syracuse Builders Exchange, Elks Lodge #496, Watertown, Rocky Mountain Elks Foundation, Ducks Unlimited and the Mad River Club.
Jon was also a big supporter of the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Foundation, as well as helping to support our local American Red Cross, Pop Warner Football, Syracuse University Sports, and local police agency public awareness programs for children. He believed in community and commerce.
Jon loved the water, from boating in the 1000 Islands to fishing the waters near his home in Cape Coral, Fl. Everyone who loved Jon has wonderful memories of spending the day on the water, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, or hunting with him. It was a rare weekend not to see Jon on an outdoor adventure. He was happiest when he had the wind in his face or mud on his gear. Jon had a remarkable ability to inspire people. He shared his sense of adventure with everyone around him and evoked that same spirit of adventure and competitiveness with his family, friends, his beloved employees and their children.
He was predeceased by his father, Jack Rich.
Jon leaves behind his daughter, Alexis Rich; his mother, Karen Rich; his sister, Lisa; nieces, Corina, Nina and a nephew Nick; along with his two beloved yellow labs, Opie and Annie, who are now missing their best friend.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 pm. At the conclusion of services, please join Jon’s family for a celebration of his life at 916 Riverside (formerly Castaways) in Central Square, NY.
