Joseph Borio's Obituary
Joseph Borio, 85, of Cicero, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Saturday, December 18, 2021. Born in Syracuse to the late Caroline (Negri) and Joseph Borio, he graduated from North High School, he received an academic scholarship to Cornell University, and then attended Syracuse University. Joseph was a 3-year U.S. Army Veteran and was the owner of Borio’s Restaurant, retiring in 1999.
Joe was an avid toy train enthusiast and a member of several organizations including the Eastern Division TCA and the TTCS Association of NY. He was also a member of the Four Freshman Society and the Friends of Fort Ticonderoga. He was an avid golfer, and loved carpentry, he made a small dining room table and small barn shed with his sons.
Along with his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his siblings, Francis Marne, and Charles Borio, Sr.; and his nephew and godson, Charles Borio, Jr.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Judith (Toscano) Borio; 4 children, Anthony (Carol) Borio, Nancy (Tom) O’Connor, Dr. Joseph Borio (Melody Eldred), and Margaret (Richard) Baumert; 7 grandchildren, Jessica Borio (Tony), Thomas and Taylor O’Connor, Joseph and Vito Borio, and Drew and Julia Baumert; 2 great-grandchildren, Liam & Aubrey Puma; and a step-great-grandson, Henry.
Funeral services will be private. Joseph will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. To attend the services remotely, please visit the Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church Facebook Page at 12pm on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.
Joseph’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their care and compassion. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, loving family, train, and golf “Buddies,” and his endearing friends and customers from Borio’s.
