Joseph J. Bovalino's Obituary
Joseph J. Bovalino, 96, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 7, 2014. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late Dominick and Julia (Bua) Bovalino. Joseph was a graduate from Blodgett Vocational High School and also took Electronic Courses at Smith Tech High School and U.S. Signal Corp's Courses at Syracuse University. He then married the love of his life, Shirley Risto at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church. Joseph worked for the General Electric Company for 39 years with the Technical Products Department where he was a Engineering Assistant. He then transferred to the Heavy Military Electronics Department as a Specialist Technical Assignment. He retired from General Electric in 1983 and was a member of the GE Quarter Club.
He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Risto) Bovalino and his two brothers, Michael A. and Carmen Bovalino. Joseph is survived by his two brothers, Samuel A. Bovalino of Syracuse and Francis (Rosemary) Bovalino of Syracuse; sisters-in-law, Janet Bovalino and Angie Bovalino; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins, along with best friends, Paula and David Bartlett.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of Joseph's life at 9:00 am in Holy Family Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
