Joseph Canino Jr.'s Obituary
Joseph Canino Jr., 84, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at the Iroquois Nursing Home. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late Joseph Canino, Sr. and Mary Christian. Joseph served with the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He was an insurance salesman with Met Life for 29 years until his retirement. A former member of the IAAC club, he enjoyed playing poker, watching sports, spending time with his family and traveling to Las Vegas with his wife Bertha.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, his son Jeffrey J. Canino, son-in-law David Vacco and his brother Angelo Canino.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 62 years Bertha (Dali) Canino; 2 sons Joseph J. Canino of Liverpool and James J. Canino of Syracuse; his daughter Cynthia Vacco of Fayetteville; 3 grandchildren Marisa Vacco, David Vacco and Dario (Beth) Vacco; 2 great granddaughters Giada and Adriana Vacco along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joe’s family would like to express a special thanks to the entire staff and facility of Iroquois nursing home for their care and compassion.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Pompei / St. Peter church, entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the Thomas J. Pirro Jr. Funeral Home on Friday from 4-7 P.M.
