Joseph T. Carella's Obituary
Joseph T. Carella, 83, of Liverpool, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph grew up on Syracuse’s Northside with strong Italian roots. A graduate of Assumption Academy, Joe soon met and married Barbara (Greene) and moved to North Syracuse where they raised their children with a great sense of family and faith which he carried throughout his life. After leaving General Electric he began his career at UPS where he retired from Teamsters 317 in 1994. In his retirement, Joe dedicated himself to being a devoted husband and caregiver to his wife, avid reader and traveler. He was a communicant at St. Rose of Lima Church, a beloved father, “Papa”, great-grandfather and humanitarian to many children’s causes.
Joe was predeceased in 2001 by his wife of 44 years, Barbara (Greene); parents, Angela and Joseph Carella and 4 beloved sisters. Joe is survived by his daughter, Pam (Jim) Munger; sons, Jeffrey (Rosaria) and Joseph III (Marybeth); grandchildren Nicole, Kristofer, Jamie, Joseph IV, Anthony Dominic, Nate, and DJ; 8 great-grandchildren; lifelong friends, Kim (Larry) LaPlante and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 10:00 am – 11:30 am at St. Augustine’s Church, 7333 O’Brien Rd. Baldwinsville, NY, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Joseph’s life at noon in St. Augustine’s Church. Funeral arrangements entrusted to THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
