Joseph J. Cavallaro's Obituary
Joseph J. Cavallaro, 88, of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday in St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Corning, NY, he served with the 184th Infantry 7th Division in the US Army during WWII and was wounded in action on Leyte Island, Philippines. Joseph was awarded the Purple Heart and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal. He was employed with Prestolite for 33 years, retiring in 1985. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Josephine, Victor, Viola, Dominica and Gino. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara (Calabria) Cavallaro; 3 children, Judith (Patrick) Kennedy of Liverpool, James Cavallaro (Barbara Phillips) of Bellingham, WA and Joseph (Francesca) Cavallaro of Leesburg, VA; 6 grandchildren, Patrick Kennedy, Christina (Stephen) Mule', Joseph, Alyssa, Catherine and Michael Cavallaro; 2 great-grandchildren, Ethan and Ryder Mule'; sister, Rose (Garo) Troubetaris of Baldwinsville and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 10:00 AM in the THOMAS J. PIRRO FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY and 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 PM.
