Joseph William Cilurzo, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 2, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength that will live on through his family and all who knew him.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Cilurzo, and his beloved wife, Margaret Cilurzo. Together, they built a life centered on family, values, and unwavering support for one another - Joseph is survived by his four children, Michele, Joe (Elizabeth), Scott (Kelli) and Jon (Brooke); his nine grandchildren, Abby, Zachary, Cameron, Jameson, Anthony, Joseph, Hendley, Ethan and Gabriel; his brother-in-law, Harry Burns, and his late wife’s sisters-in-law, Anna Burns and JoAnn Burns. Born to immigrant parents from Italy and raised in Syracuse, New York, Joseph carried with him a deep appreciation for hard work, perseverance, and opportunity. He put himself through college while working full-time—an early reflection of the determination that would define his life and career.
Joseph went on to become a highly respected business executive in the medical equipment industry, successfully leading two companies (Jobst & MTI, Inc) during his distinguished career. His leadership, integrity, and work ethic earned him the admiration of colleagues and peers, but it was his humility and character that left the greatest impression.
Above all, Joseph was a devoted father and grandfather. He took immense pride in raising his four children and was always present in the moments that mattered most—whether cheering from the stands at sporting events or sitting proudly in the audience at school plays. His encouragement, guidance, and steady presence shaped the lives of his family in lasting ways.
He had a lifelong passion for sports and was a dedicated fan of Syracuse Orange and Dayton Flyers basketball, always watching or listening to their games and always sharing his enthusiasm with those around him.
Joseph will be remembered as a warm, kind, and generous man—someone who made others feel valued and respected. He had a way of bringing people together, and his presence left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Joseph’s life was a testament to hard work, love of family, and living with integrity. His legacy will endure in the lives he touched and the family he so deeply loved.
