Joseph R. Correia's Obituary
Joseph R. Correia,58, of Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Henninger High School. He worked for Syracuse Haulers as a mechanic supervisor for over 15 years. Joseph enjoyed Go-Karting with his son and watching movies with his daughter. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, racing, watching racing and always helping people with whatever anyone needed.
Joseph was predeceased his brother, Michael Correia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 6 years, Rosalind (Pietra) Correia; his children; Joseph J. Correia of Syracuse; daughter, Antoinette M. Correia of Syracuse; 3 step-children, Matthew (Amanda) Rushford of Cicero, Timothy (Tierney) Rushford of Syracuse and Richard (Mary) Rushford of Cicero; his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Horace and Theresa (Valerio) Correia; 5 grandchildren, Mackenzie, Riley, Brianna, Alyssa, and soon to be Natalie; 9 siblings, Richard (Marilyn) Correia, Theresa (William) Raite, Donna (Michael) Schopley, Anthony (Melinda) Correia, Peter (Robie) Correia, Susan (Stanley) Kot, Mary (David) Swedowski, Phillip Correia and Kathy Correia; his former wife, Christine (Conte) Correia; sister-in-law, Ruth Correia; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Joseph’s life will be held at 9:00 A.M. in St. Daniel’s Church on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
