Joseph A. Dell'Aquila's Obituary
With heavy hearts we said good-bye to the love of our lives. Our sweetheart, daddy and friend, Joseph A. Dell’Aquila was taken from us unexpectedly September 30, 2014, a day after his 66th birthday. Joe was born and raised in Syracuse, NY to the late Joseph and Anne R. (Tucci) Dell’Aquila. He attended Henninger High School, where he met the love of his life, Lorraine (Buffa) Dell’Aquila, and graduated in 1966. After high school Joe enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserves in 1967. He was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant in 1973. In May 1969, he was hired by Niagara Mohawk, currently National Grid. Joe gave his all in his job working 45 plus years to the present. He was Chief Gas Meter Mechanic.
His greatest joy came from providing for his family. Joe and Lorraine welcomed 3 children into the world and 8 grandchildren. Love surrounded them. Joe was a kind man, gentle in spirit. He never had an ill word for anyone. He was the rock of both his immediate and extended family which included close lifelong friends. Joe will be remembered for his quick smile, gentle reassurance and ability to unconditionally love those who knew him.
Joseph is survived by his one love, his wife of 45 years, Lorraine (Buffa) Dell’Aquila; 3 children, Nicole (Timothy) Cody of Cicero; Joseph (Nicole) Dell’Aquila of Mullica Hills, NJ and Jake (Jodi) Dell’Aquila of New York, NY; 8 grandchildren, Kyle, Joseph, and Jace Cody, Joseph, Christian, and Greyson Dell’Aquila, Sydney and Peri Dell’Aquila; a brother, Paul Dell’Aquila of Syracuse, and a large close extended family.
