Joseph Thomas DeVivo, Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph Thomas DeVivo, Sr. passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the age of 96 at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center. Joseph was born December 8, 1918, in Syracuse, NY, son of Ralph and Grace (Pontelfino) DeVivo. He met and then married his childhood sweetheart, Antoinette Carioggia, on May 11, 1940. He served in the European Theater during WWII. Joseph worked for many years for Ward Baking Co and ultimately retired from the City of Syracuse, Department of Public Works, in June, 1990. Joe loved opera and had a beautiful tenor voice. He had the pleasure of singing with the Bob Hope USO Show, while serving in Europe.
He was predeceased by his brother, Samuel and sisters, Mary and Theresa.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Antoinette; his son, Joseph Jr. and spouse Donna, and daughter, Joanne, who lives in Houston, TX. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Debra Ann Gallegos, spouse Mark, Dawn Marie Froman, spouse Jay and four great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass in celebration of Joseph’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. A calling hour for family and friends will be held from 9:45AM to 10:45AM on Thursday at the church, 301 Ash Street, Syracuse, NY. THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME is handling funeral arrangements.
