Joseph A. Donardo's Obituary
Joseph A. Donardo, 92, of Liverpool, passed away Friday in the James Square Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. A life resident of the Syracuse area, he was an Army Veteran of World War II and a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Curley Council #3717. Joe had been employed by Acme Markets for 30 years before his retirement. A great athlete, he had received many awards as a "Fastpitch" softball pitcher and was an accomplished and avid bowler. He was also very active with the "Happy Times Club" at St. Rose of Lima Church where he was also a communicant. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary (Virginio) Donardo, two children, Diane Garvey of Liverpool and Richard A. (Judith S.) Donardo of Clay; four grandsons, David (Lisa) Donardo, Mark (Michele) Donardo, Shaun Garvey and Jason Garvey; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Samantha and Jillian; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:00 am Wednesday in the Thomas J. Pirro Jr. Funeral Home and 10:00 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, where a funeral mass will be celebrated. Entombment will be in the Woodlawn Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Road (Corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm.
