Joseph J. Falge's Obituary
Joseph J. Falge, 91, passed away on February 18, 2023, at Francis House. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late John and Helen Falge. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Joe retired as the Commissioner of Emergency Management for Onondaga County. He loved Sr. Kathleen Osbelt and held several major fund raisers for Francis House. Joe was an avid Yankees fan, was a great bowler and decent golfer. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends at Buckley Square. He also enjoyed cooking for his family and was famous for his Easter pies. Two things of great importance to Joe were the Lincoln Republican Club and the IAAC and his dear friends in each.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Ann Liepka-Falge in 2014; brother, Nick Kleist, and grandson Kevin Falge.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Diane (Gary) Houghmaster, and son, John (Maureen) Falge; his 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; his brother, Jack (Dawn) Falge; many nieces and nephews.
Joe's family would like to thank all his caregivers at Francis House.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Joe's life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY, followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
