Joseph Galluzzo's Obituary
Joseph Galluzzo, 92, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Saturday. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Angelina Adornato and Nicodemo Galluzzo. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He earned 3 bronze service stars and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Joe owned and operated many businesses including the Collamer Coffee Cup, Jo-Dom’s Old Collamer Restaurant and Fremont Fish Fry. He was co-founder of the ESM Eagles Pop Warner Football League, president of Conan Pop Warner, and president and board member of the ESM Football Association. He was an active supporter of Bishop Grimes Boosters and athletics.
He was predeceased by his son, Nicholas Galluzzo, and his siblings, Vincent, Antoinette, Kathryn and Dominick.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Maureen (Duggan) Galluzzo; son, Gerard (Tina) Galluzzo; daughters, Lynn (Kenneth) Sheehan and Angel (Patrick) Condon; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; his sister, Nancy Lanzetta; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 11 a.m. in St. Matthew’s Church, 229 W. Yates St. in East Syracuse. Burial with military honors will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road (corner of Buckley Road) in North Syracuse.
